MEET THE BAND
Jeff's musical experiences started in his homeland of Dominica. As a young child, his paternal grandfather tutored him on percussion. He eventually started playing the bass guitar while in high school then ultimately picked up playing the lead/rhythm guitar, which he developed a passion for. Upon moving to the United States to further his college education, Jeff became the lead guitarist of a Latin band. Over the years he has played with several bands and has contributed his guitar works on several studio sessions in the US and Jamaica with known international artist, some of whom he also accompanied on live performances. Jeff has performed in several countries playing multiple genre of music. He incorporates many styles in his playing and as a founding member and leader of the Galaxy Band, Jeff continues to demonstrate the same enthusiasm he had since his first gig as a teenager and continues to look forward to the next chapter of his musical career.
Born in Houston, Texas to a Jamaican mother and a Guyanese father, Sabrina was introduced to various Caribbean music at a very young age. She remembers sitting on her grandmother’s veranda in Jamaica while reggae music flared in the background inspiring her to explore her vocal ability. Upon graduating from college, Sabrina became a teacher at a middle school and while there, became friends with her colleague, Julian who introduced her to the band. After auditioning, she became a member of Galaxy Band bringing a powerful vocal that's infused with energy and distinctive ranges. Her commitment to the group was proven when she pursued and attained a second college degree while juggling between the demands of the band and her studies.
Julian found her voice at the tender age of 14. She achieved great musical feats while in high school which later earned her a full music scholarship at one of Texas’ top universities. Being the renegade that she is, Julian opted to move to NYC. While there, she performed regularly and even worked on a few recordings – all the while, pursuing her post-secondary education. After 20 years in the Big Apple, Julian moved back to the greener pastures of Texas to focus on one very important element – family. She quickly became a viable member of the Galaxy Band family and has continued to entertain audiences with her passion, powerful voice and energetic presence.
Tony developed a passion for music at a very young age. The youngest of three brothers – all musically inclined – Tony grew up playing the steel drums and performed with one of the top steel bands in Trinidad & Tobago. As a drummer and percussionist, he played with some of the country’s most talented calypsonians and soca artists throughout the Caribbean and also in Texas. Tony’s musical abilities, experience, ear for music and cool-headed disposition make him an integral member of the Galaxy Band family.
Clyde's musical journey started during his teenage years as a rhythm guitarist and vocalist for a Christian ministry group in Guyana. He would later perform with several local groups as a bassist and sometimes as band leader before leaving to continue a teaching career in the Bahamas. While in the Bahamas, Clyde played with a few of the local groups while pursuing his teaching career. Leaving the Bahamas, Clyde migrated to United States where he became actively involved with his church's praise group and also worked with several bands and musicians playing multiple genres of music. His versatility as a musician has made him a perfect fit for Galaxy Band playing bass and singing. He is also an integral founding member of Galaxy.
Alex "Bo" Leslie migrated to the US as a young child with his parents years ago from Belize. Bo became interested in playing several musical instruments at an early age and over the years has consistently progressed with his skills on keyboards, guitar, harmonica and drums. He grew up listening to an array of music and embraced many genres besides Caribbean music. Over the years, he has played with several R&B, Pop and Latin bands in the area. Bo brings an authentic style of keyboard playing that is essential to the sound of the Galaxy Band.
